Monitor Types
There are two general types of monitors: Continuous and Non-Continuous.
  • Continuous monitors run continuously, as their name implies. Their tests are never completed, and they run as long as the vehicle is being driven. Continuous monitors include the Comprehensive Component, Fuel System, and Misfire monitors.
  • All other monitors are Non-Continuous. They are designed to run once during a vehicle trip.
The vehicle needs to be operated under specific conditions during a trip before non-continuous monitors can run to completion.
