Part-Time and Full Time Lane Operator

POSITION PURPOSE:

The position is responsible for the emission testing of vehicles at company stations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Pre-inspect vehicles for safety and exhaust system integrity.

• Assist customers to and from the waiting area.

• Enter appropriate vehicle information and verify data against computer data.

• Maintain accurate and safe test fee handling practices.

• Perform vehicle tests and inspections accurately that are consistent with vehicle testing training.

• Safely and professionally operate vehicles during emissions test.

• Maintain informative and polite communication with customers during their visit to the station.

• Refer questions/comments to appropriate station personnel.

• Ensure test information is accurate prior to delivering to customers.

• Maintain personal and test station appearance, performing janitorial tasks as required.

• Maintain and promote a positive attitude with the public, fellow employees, and others.

• Notify management of any safety or security concerns.

• Maintains and uses equipment and company property with care and to company standards.

• Various other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Good communication skills both written and verbal.

• Computer keyboarding skills.

• Able to enter and exit customer vehicles.

• Able to stoop, bend, and reach

• Able to reconcile large sums of cash and prepare reports.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Previous experience in a service position preferred.

• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Able to lift up to 25#.

• Able to stoop, bend, climb and reach.

• Able to stand for long periods of time.

• Able to drive a manual transmission vehicle

• Able to enter and exit customer vehicles.

• Able to communicate with the customer during the testing process
